I have been attending the NYC Comic-Con since it started in 2006. I started as an exhibitor then with my friend Phillippe St. Gerard. We created web comics together and it was tons of fun.
This years comic-con was visually very stunning. All the booths from the major players had lots of amazing visual elements from giant characters, video displays, interactive video elements and a Hunted house by Funko. Speaking of Funko these toys were every where. It was a Funko collectors paradise.
This years Comic-Con was well organized, get in on any of the days was super quick, I also did not feel trapped in the convention center and was able to leave and come back without waiting in any line. The also utilized the outside front area in very creative ways, including a Bat-Mobile track for the little ones.
I felt like the Artists Ally grew this year. It also feels like the comic book artists have begun forming clans. Companies like Comic Sketch Art and Kirbys Comic Art are two I saw. Then there were a ton of independent comic creators getting funding from Kickstarter or just going out on their own. I will be featuring many of these artists in the next few issues of the Geekout.
Next Issue I will cover Cosplay and all The Anime booths that have take over the NYC Comic-Con.
